Using Bikes to Power Melbourne’s Earth Hour Concert.
The Melbourne Earth Hour Concert was Australia’s signature Earth Hour event for 2009! Held at Federation Square on Saturday March 28th from 7:00pm, the concert was a FREE public event.

This concert is unique in Australian history because it was people powered by the Future Spark Team Challenge.
The concert ran from 7:00pm to 10.30pm and attracted over 7,000 people. The Earth Hour Concert was held at Federation Square and featured a special performance by Augie March – playing their, “One Crowded Hour” song – which is the signature song for Earth Hour 2009.

Success!

Congratulations to all our participants, sponsors, and organisers on a successful Future Spark for 2009! We generated a final total of 62249.2 Wh, and used 44611.2 Wh of it for the concert. Still almost a third left over! The left over power was used to help power the other restaurants and lighting at Federation Square.
